Director of Worship Arts

Position Type: Part-time, 10-15 hours per week

Reports To: Pastor
 

Location: Denton, NC

Position Summary

The Director of Worship Arts will lead and cultivate a dynamic, Spirit-filled worship experience that aligns with the United Methodist tradition and theology. This person will oversee all aspects of worship, including music, media, and creative arts, ensuring a meaningful and engaging worship environment for the congregation.

Key Responsibilities

Worship Planning & Leadership

  • Collaborate with the pastor and worship team to plan and lead weekly worship services
  • Select, arrange, and direct music for worship services, including special music.
  • Lead and coordinate musicians, vocalists, choirs, and instrumentalists for worship services.
  • Engage and train volunteers in worship arts ministries, fostering a culture of excellence and spiritual growth.

Music & Creative Arts Ministry

  • Direct and rehearse choir once/week.
  • Oversee the technology volunteers and staff, which currently includes sound, ProPresenter, and livestreaming.
  • Oversee the accuracy of ProPresenter and the bulletin every week, ensuring all worship elements have been included in their proper order.

Spiritual & Congregational Engagement

  • Foster a worship culture that is Christ-centered, participatory, and engaging for all ages.
  • Encourage congregational involvement in worship through creative and interactive elements.
  • Mentor and develop musicians, particularly youth and emerging leaders.

Administrative & Ministry Oversight

  • Organize and schedule rehearsals, volunteers, and worship teams.
  • Manage the worship ministry budget, including purchasing music, equipment, and other resources.
  • Maintain copyright compliance for music and media.

Qualifications

  • A deep and growing faith in Jesus Christ, with a commitment to Wesleyan theology and the mission of Central United Methodist Church.
  • Bachelor’s degree in music, worship arts, or a related field (preferred).
  • Leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and equip volunteers.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
